I know I've told you about why I'm drawing animals so I don't think it BEARS repeating. HA!

Day 89
The Bison has the coolest looking front half. All that fur on the front end mixed with horns and that giant head make for a dominate look.

Day 87
I figure it's about time I had a monster to call my own. You know, something in your back pocket to doodle anytime you run out of ideas, or you just want to draw a familiar friend. Anyway, where's the best place to start when it comes to friendly monsters? You guessed it! Just starting the ideas brewing.

Day 86
I am very tired tonight. Went over to the neighbors house for some bbq and beverages and man am I full and exhausted. Thank you Bill and Liz for the wonderful food and good times.

Day 84
I'm sure these exercises are getting boring for most of you. However they are stirring my creative juices! I'm hoping to come up with something fun for tomorrow.

Day 82
This is for my brother-in-law, Randy. Happy Birthday Randy! I'm sure my sister made you pay the price for saying you no longer celebrate your own birthdays.
Day 79 Recap
I drew this on Saturday for my Mom's birthday TODAY! Happy Birthday Mom. We all love you over here at the Brown house.

Day 80
More head construction tonight. The blue ones are the ones I think are working the best and the orange ones are the ones I think work the least. I'm really getting into doing these exercises. Sorry if it's boring for some of you. I will be mixing in my usual array of bad puns and goofy drawings.

Day 79
Tonight was spent drawing a picture for my Mom's birthday. However since her official birthday isn't until Tuesday I don't want to spoil the surprise and show the whole picture today. Here's a small portion of the full image. The fact that, if she checks this site this weekend, she'll know she's receiving a drawing for her birthday is bad enough. So don't ruin it... AMY! I'm looking in your direction.

Day 78
More head construction tonight. The blue ones are the ones I like the most in the row and the orange ones are the ones I like the least. Did I mention that I like this Preston Blair book?

Day 77
Today's assignment allowed for some freedom. I took some of the Preston Blair characters and altered them to my liking. Some of the drawings work for me. Some don't. I really am enjoying going through Mr. Blair's book.

Day 76
Is it just me or does the "Zone" come in waves. It's as if I'm going along and suddenly every line feels good and I'm really seeing the shapes. Then suddenly I think to myself, "YES... The ZONE!" and then clank... there it goes. Gone. Back to struggling. Despite the rain cloud over that last observation I really do love drawing.
The last few drawings I struggled with and I'm realizing that it's because I was trying to copy the drawing I was referencing and not building the shapes and then drawing over those shapes.

Day 75
I call today the day of realization. My realization is that I can't draw to save my life! Last night's wasp was brutal. Today I spent my drawing time doing exercises. Sorry, but you're going to have to put up with these for at least a week. I need to do some working out.

Day 74
This is for a blog called "Hello My Name Is... And I'm A Drawaholic". Each week is a different reference creature, and this week it's a wasp. Man they have a lot of legs... Wasps, not the blog.

Day 70
Another exercise. Tomorrow I hope to have something other than an exercise. Thank you for your patience. I'm actually going to see "Avatar" tonight so THAT is why I'm only posting another exercise. Cop out? Kind of. What's that? No, no I haven't seen "Avatar" yet. I know I should have seen it already considering I work in Visual Effects. Sometimes being a parent out weights being a movie junkie.

Day 69
Okay, so maybe you are going to see a bunch of exercises the next couple of days. The bigger piece I'm working on is taking a bit. I've finished the line work, but I want to do some color. Don't get your hopes up for some big fancy "Art" piece. It's still just the usual stupid silly humor.

Day 68
A couple of things. First of all Preston Blair's book "Cartoon Animation" is amazing. When ever I'm feeling a loss of inspiration I like too jump back to his book and rediscover the basics. Secondly, you're not going to get a bunch of exercises for the next few days. Don't worry. I'm just working on something that can't be done in one night and I don't want to upload parts of it. Good times.

Day 67
This is easily one of my Top Five Favorite Movies All Time. Judge me if you will, but you just can't beat the quotability nor the fact that it doesn't suffer like most comedies, the funny doesn't die when they try to wrap up the story.
"What the hell are we doing here, Harry? We gotta get out of this town!"
"Oh yeah, and go where? Where are we gonna go?"
"I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen."
"Oh, I don't know, Lloyd. The French are assholes."

Day 66
So I throw on some TV as I'm drawing and "Die Hard" is on. I love that movie. I decided to do a version of John McClane. I know his shoulder gets bloodied in "Die Hard: With A Vengeance", but it just makes for some fun blood drawing.

Day 65
I started out thinking I was going to do some concept work for a goofy monster drawing, but then was caught up in drawing "MONSTER SHAPES!" (Said in a really bad Vincent Price impersonation.) Basically I started with a primitive shape and made it into a monster. It was actually a fun exercise.
Day 64
This was done Friday night while watching "Horton Hears A Who" with my son AT my parent's house. I'm not trying to make excuses, I was just tired, had my son, in an uncomfortable chair, with an old sketch book, a crappy pencil, and I was tired... with my son.

Day 63
You ever have one of those days where you feel like a zombie? Today wasn't one of those days for me, but I've been there.
